In the fall of 2022 we drove from Sweden to Italy for an art show in Venice and Rome. During the exhibitions we drove all through Italy down to Sicily. The rolling pastures in Tuscany, the mountains and ocean scenes in Sicily, the majestic architecture in Rome, all inspired me to paint this large work, the first painting in my new studio in Sweden. The painting expresses the warmth and richness of the fertile land, the ever changing movement of the sea and the light splashing through clouds rising up towards the heavens. It is a monumental work celebrating the beauty on Earth.

I was commisioned to paint this window-view from an estate of a small Greek village. After that I went to Agira, Poros and Hydra and painted some smaller work on site. Hydra, an island without cars, was especially beautiful. I walked for hours along the beautiful coast with a view of distant hazy islands.

For a year I lived in a quite country cottage outside the city of Örebro in the center of Sweden. I sat and briefly sketched out this painting. The rest I made up in the studio. I particularly like the shape of the clouds.

This is one of my favorite paintings. I love the S-curved road following the beach and the cloud shadows fall on sea, road and fields with no knowledge of boundaries. There is movement of the cars, the waves and the silent clouds.

I painted this up from the beach by Alvor in the Algarve of Portugal. I was intrigued by the clean lines of the apartment buildings and the parachute like trees. As I was busy painting, I heard strange flickering sounds from above. I looked up and lots of parachutes unfolding and later landing on the beach.

I went back several times to finish this scene of the city of Lagos in southern Portugal. There were fisherman close to me cleaning their nets. We were all working hard in very different fields. A week later, I sold it at an artists' market in Seville, Spain.

I sat on the sidewalk looking up while painting the famous Cathedral in Uppsala. An airplane went by. I quickly painted it in and then realized it looked like a third cross in the sky. Strange coincidences like this often happen when painting on-site.

I would often sit in the park near Fulford looking across the bay at St. Paul's church. I liked the way it melted in with the trees and hill. The clouds of light over the hill is for me the highlight of the painting.
